It’s almost impossible to not find a major angle to how the Coronavirus is impacting both sports and tech. Major tech conferences on multiple continents have been cancelled. And, most recently, the sports world has seen a big impact. Italy announced that sporting events would take place in stadiums without fans. The Hong Kong Marathon, World Athletics Indoor Championships, World Rugby Seven Series have all been cancelled or postponed. Right now, there’s mounting pressure to cancel Austin’s annual SXSW conference and there was high-level discussion about what happens with the NCAA March Madness tournament. At this moment, both are slated to continue. But, perhaps one of the biggest questions facing the sports world at the moment is what happens to the Olympics in Japan this summer.
